Abeceda
Four small oil paintings and one large-scale watercolour wallpainting; the work made connections between idealistic and experimental thought in spatial and social organisation and artistic pursuits. The title referred the 1920s book Abeceda (Alphabet), a composite of experimental poetry, modern dance, graphic design and photomontaged typography, based on a poem by Viteslav Nezval.

Movement Choir: Machine Dance (after Margaret Bourke-White)
An interpretation of a 1931 photograph by Margaret Bourke-White of the Moscow Ballet School rehearsing a ‘machine dance’. Bourke-White was one of the great chroniclers of the Machine Age of the late 1920s and early 30s.
Architecture for the People (Deeply De la Warr)
The familiar staircase of the De la Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea, Britain’s first Modernist public building, restored and reopened in 2005 as an arts centre and contemporary art gallery.

From a newspaper clipping about the film Ballet Russes, which documents the ground-breaking early twentieth century troupe whose artistic collaborations with choreographers, composers, and artists included set and costume designs by Matisse, Picasso and Coco Chanel.
